"For some strange reason, I've always been fascinated with horror films. I love the rush that you get from a really scary movie, it makes me feel so alive. I think it's awesome that people watch them, knowing that they are in the safety of the theatre or their own home, yet they react as if they themselves are in danger. It blows my mind."
Jon recently graduated from the Dodge College of Film and Media Arts at Chapman University . He studied film for four years at the Orange County institution and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film Production Cinematography. Although he is interested in camerawork, his main focus is on writing and directing.
"I took cinematography because I wanted to learn more about how the camera actually works and what you can do with film. Essentially that knowledge will make me a better director."
It may seem like Harvest is only a short horror film but the film actually deals with many dark undertones and social themes.
"The real harvest is actually a harvest of emotion. Each character represents different sides of my own self and the story actually parallels my own coming out experience. It's more of a metaphor really, but you don't have to look any further than the tagline to discover the true meaning of the film."
Out of hatred and torment.Evil is Born.
Jon has made about 10 short horror films in the past five years including a short entitled, "SHOCK" that he sold to the HBO Family Channel when he was a senior in high school. After its completion, Harvest will be submitted to the festival circuit and be used as a means to market the feature version of the film.
"I would like to express my utmost respect, appreciation and gratitude to everyone in the cast and crew who was involved in making my dream a reality. Thank you for your hard work, support and love. This picture would have never been possible without it."
